Average People Are Mean
So… all my nerdy geeky friends will have just guffawed, while most of the rest of you will be making up placards with which to bash me over the head for being cruel.
Which are you? 🙂
Leaving aside the word play, are ‘average’ people actually mean (in the non geeky definition of the word)? There’s two ways to look at that. If you see ‘mean’ as ‘cruel’ it’s a little harsh to agree with the statement. Vanilla is too bland to be cruel. However, if you think of mean as mean spirited or mean with your money… there’s an argument that can be made for this.
What if, by staying average, a person deprives thousands of people of the message that only they can share? What if they do this because they’re being mean with their money, so they don’t buy the book or course that could take them beyond average, and share their value with the world? Isn’t that mind-meanness? Isn’t it, actually, mean in the cruel sense if people fail in their own lives because you are scared to succeed in yours?
If you’re going to be vanilla, be organic vanilla with vanilla specks. Be the best vanilla the world have ever seen. Don’t be average. Don’t be mean.
Think about it.
